Veronika Adlerstein, Psychotherapist in New York

Explore your past. Understand your present. And by doing so, gently and intentionally, you begin to create a new future.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting where you’ve been. It means making space to understand it, so it no longer defines you. In the safety of therapy, we walk that path together: with compassion, curiosity, and a belief that change is possible.

If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, difficult family dynamics or life transitions, people-pleasing, relationship struggles or grief, you have come to the right place. Reaching out for help can shift things in ways you didn’t think was possible. Because support isn’t a detour - it’s the way forward.

My style is flexible, intuitive, and collaborative. Whether you need practical tools, space to reflect, or a deeper understanding of long-standing patterns, I tailor therapy to support your unique path.

I speak English, Swedish, and Polish fluently, with basic Hebrew as well. The New York metropolitan region is home to many vibrant communities and I’m passionate about working with people from all walks of life.

Having been born and raised in Sweden and having moved to the United States as an adult, I understand firsthand the challenges immigrants face when adapting to a new country. I’m personally familiar with the emotional complexity of building a life in a new culture - navigating unfamiliar systems, finding belonging, and trying to stay connected to where you came from while learning to thrive where you are now.

My work is grounded in cultural sensitivity and deep respect for the courage it takes to start over. I hold space for these experiences with empathy, insight, and care.

My Philosophy

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is everything. It’s not just important; it’s the heart of meaningful change. Together, we will explore your story, your challenges, and your strengths, creating a space where you feel understood and safe. My role is to offer support when needed, listen deeply, and guide when the time is right, all with the goal of helping you discover your own path to healing.

Therapy is about easing the emotional burdens we carry. If we work together, we’ll look at what’s troubling you and how it affects your life. I believe that, at some level, we all know our truth, but it can be difficult to access it. Sometimes, the struggles we face arise from not being able to live authentically in the world. My goal is to help you connect with those parts of yourself and, over time, learn to navigate your emotions with more confidence and ease.

Ultimately, our work together will focus on finding ways for you to live a more joyful, authentic life. Living well involves understanding people, situations, and knowing when and how to act in alignment with your true self. My hope is that, by the time you finish therapy, you’ll feel not only hopeful but also more deeply connected to yourself and your place in the world.
